Acting together to overcome poverty
The religious communities have a long history of social work and welfare institutions, running alongside state welfare systems and often substituting them. However, despite of the interreligious work already being done, there is much potential in the cooperation between religious communities in addressing social injustice and poverty. EYCE Press Release: EYCE General Secretary takes part in High-Level Religious Leaders meeting at the European Commission.
Yesterday, on the 12th of July 2012, the EYCE General Secretary Kristine Jansone represented the voice of young Christians at the annual High-Level Religious Leaders meeting, which took place at the European Commission. Upon the invitation of José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, the meeting brought together more than twenty senior representatives from Christian, Muslim and Jewish religions and from the Hindu and Bahá’í communities from all over Europe.
The meeting was co-chaired by Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and László Surján, Vice-President of the European Parliament representing President Martin Schulz. The meeting was held under the headline ‘Intergenerational Solidarity: Setting the Parameters for Tomorrow’s Society in Europe’. Read on →

EYCE Press Release: Young people gather to discuss ecological justice !
From 24th June to 1st July 2012 more than twenty young people from Europe and beyond, as well as from various denominational and national backgrounds gathered in Minsk, Belarus, for an EYCE training course “Taking steps towards an ecologically responsible society. Economic and political aspects of ecological justice.” The participants got the opportunity to further develop their knowledge of different aspects of ecological justice and acquire practical tools and skills for further promoting the ideas discussed. The training course was organized by the Ecumenical Youth Council in Europe in cooperation with volunteers in Minsk. Read on →
