New campaign: Call for a Leadership Team
The 2007 seminar in Volos saw the launching of a new EYCE long-term project: The "Inter-religious Campaign Against Fundamentalism" is EYCE's thematical focus programme for the next three years. Therefore we are looking for young people with experiences in the field of Inter-religious dialogue, who are willing to tackle the problem of fundamentalism and stimulate the Campaign with their expertise and creativity.

Call for participants: Tearing down the walls
Apply now for EYCE's first 2008 event! The training course “Tearing down the walls – a training course on overcoming conflict and stimulating reconciliation in Europe” will be held at the Corrymeela Centre, Ballycastle, Northern Ireland from the 22nd to the 27th June 2008. Participants should be active young people interested in questions of reconciliation and conflict transformation.

Migration & youth: a hot topic at the YFJ Council of Members
The European Youth Forum (YFJ) gathered representatives from its 97 Member Organisations for the Council of Members meeting (COMEM) to reflect on the work achieved by the youth movement over the last six months and shape the future activity of their platform. This time round, 160 delegates got together on 2-3 May in Barcelona , hosted by the Catalan National Youth Council.

CoE: Discussion forum on freedom of speech in crisis situations
The Council of Europe invites you to participate in the new online discussion forum on freedom of speech in crisis situations, which the Council launched today to mark World Press Freedom Day next 3 May. The forum, targeted at journalists and anyone interested in freedom of speech, aims to promote professional debate and analysis.

Intercultural dialogue: response to which problems?
The first of a series of four seminars dedicated to Islam, Christianity and Europe, the seminar held on 17 April 2008 in the European Parliament (Brussels) took the form of a panel discussion among Islamic and Christian experts. They exchanged views on the urgent necessity and aims for intercultural dialogue in Europe. EYCE at the Slovenian Presidency Youth Event
What is needed for “Promoting the Participation of Young People with Fewer Opportunities”? This question was widely discussed at the Slovenian EU Presidency Youth Event in Ljubljana and Brdo pri Kranju, 18th – 21st April 2008. The 150 young delegates managed to break their various opinions down to a sharp edged, four page Final Document that was handed over to the Directors General for youth politics on Sunday.

Inter-religious issues in Coyote #13
Once or twice a year, the joint Youth Partnership programme of the Council of Europe and the European Commission issues a magazine: Coyote treats all kinds of issues around "Youth-Training-Europe". European Christian-Muslim Conference planned
In response to the kind invitation by the Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest (Hungary) and President of the Council of Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE) Cardinal Péter Erdo, a meeting of the CCEE-CEC Committee for Relations with Muslims in Europe (CRME) will take place from 17th to 20th April in Esztergom. CRME is an Ecumenical Committee set up in 1986 by the Conference of European Churches (CEC) and CCEE. Its task is to inform and support the Churches in Europe in their encounter with Islam, and to intensify relations with Muslims.

EYCE Searching for Volunteer!

Would you like to live in Brussels for one year? EYCE is searching for a voluteer for 2009. As volunteer in the EYCE office you will get deeply into European ecumenical youth work, especially in the field of Economic Justice and Youth Employment in the context of Migration. The European Voluntary Service programme will cover board and lodging, a monthly allowance and a language course. Are you curious? Interested? Please contact the EYCE office for information before 15th of May 2008!
