The EYCE Summer Training "HIV/AIDS and Young Migrants" has been granted and will be held in Romania from the 19 to 26 of August 2007.
The aim of the training course will be equip youth leaders and young people with the necessary tools and practical skills in order to raise awareness in the field if HIV/AIDS education and on the impact of HIV/AIDS on young migrants’ lives from different points of view, as well as contribute with ideas for concrete co-operation regarding the issue between youth organisations on a local, regional and national level.
In order to achieve this aim, the following objectives have been identified:
- To provide background knowledge on HIV/AIDS including all aspects, i.e. historical, medical, social and psychological aspects
- To analyse the present situation in the migrants community and address it through concrete action planning and development
- To raise awareness among young migrants and to find out what is going on regarding the reality of HIV/AIDS
- To break down barriers, prejudices and discrimination and be inclusive in our practice
- To face theological questions about the issue of HIV/AIDS and learn about Churches’ concrete response
- To learn together about the particular challenges migrants youth are facing with respect to the HIV/AIDS Crisis
- To provide empowerment for all participants.
