EYCE - Newsletter: Thursday, June 28, 2007 Issue: 45
Dear ,
Greetings from the Ecumenical Youth Council in Europe.
Summer is coming with a good news EYCE's Summer Training "HIV/AIDS and Young Migrants" has been granted and will be held in Romania from the 19 to 26 of August 2007. This event will be a step forward in the EYCE campaign "HIV can touch everyone - Ecumenical Youth fighting HIV/AIDS". The Summer Training will be held in Romania as hosting country as EYCE already has worked there on HIV/ AIDS issues in 2006 and would like to continue this valuable work. Even if there are no statistics that can inform about the percentage of youth migrants coming from or arriving in Romania affected from such a disease at the end of 2003, there were 6,500 people living with HIV/AIDS in Romania.
You will find the application with all the related information soon on our web-site.
But EYCE is also looking beyond the summer and we can already now advertise for EYCE's seminar 2007 which will be held from 9th – 16th December 2007 in Greece. The theme of the seminar is "“Monologue or dialogue – inter-religious dialogue meets fundamentalism”. The seminar will focus on the question of fundamentalism and extremism, trying to address a rather difficult topic: while it is easy to dialogue with those who are willing to dialogue, dialogue must also reach out to those who are sceptical or against dialogue. To realise this event we are working together with our partners FEMYSO, the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), and the National Youth Council of Greece (ESYN).
On EYCE's website you can find much information on the recent EYCE Training Course “Transforming Conflict – Healing Memories”, held from 14th - 21st May in Feketic, Serbia (see the link below). On www.eyce.org you can also find the daily reports of the participants and the pictures from the EYCE Study Session: “Religious Rights – Human Rights? Developing an inter-religious concept of Human Rights and Human Rights Education”, held from 11th to 18th March 2007 EYCE held a Study Session in the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg, France.
I would like to inform you about the Call for applications for the position of Regional Secretary for WSCF Europe which will be vacant as of 1st October 2007. The World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) therefore seeks applications for this challenging task based at the European Regional Office in Budapest, Hungary. If you are interested please have a look at the web page www.wscf-europe.org. The deadline for applications is July 10, 2007. Interviews will take place on the 4th of August 2007.
I hope that all of you will have a good and beautiful summer - and hopefully someone of you will spend one week of the summer with EYCE in Romania.
With very best wishes from Brussels,
Mariangela Fadda
EYCE General Secretary
