|
From 14th to 21st of August 2005 more than 30 participants from 15 European countries as well as Brazil and Somalia gathered in Riga, Latvia, to discuss the growing challenge of HIV/AIDS. In response to this issue EYCE participants have decided to launch the campaign "HIV can touch everyone - Ecumenical youth fighting HIV/AIDS". The campaign which is aimed at raising awareness among youth, particularly in church, and at fighting prejudice through acceptance, respect and compassion for everyone living with HIV was launched during a festive ceremony held in Riga on Saturday 20th August 2005. During the participants presented a logo, prayer material and a number of other materials and ideas on how youth leaders can actively and creatively be involved in facing the challenge of HIV/AIDS for the coming two to three years.
