Turbulent Times

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me [...] Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." ― Matthew 25:35,40

Dear reader,

It is a situation we cannot escape, wherever we go, whatever we do, the pictures, the stories the facts and the rumours surround us. But we shouldn't want to escape. The refugee crisis continues throughout the world, and we need to do something to help. From the moment the picture of young Alyan washed up on the beach was published public hearts began to warm, the recognition that these are desperate people who need our help fell upon many people. Politicians were forced to do more, but it still isn't enough. We have to keep fighting, we have to make a change. We encourage you to continue to pray for the situation, and to take action, because together we can make a change, and give these people hope for a better life.

For the EYCE Executive Committee and Office summer break is long gone. The Training Course "Faces of Poverty" has taken place in Manchester recently and the General Meeting as well as the Alumni Meeting are approaching quickly. Our volunteer Michael Luis has finished his internship. We wish Michael all the best for his future and thank him for his efforts. His successor, Manon Schilder from France, has started her internship in the office in the beginning of September. We welcome her aboard and hope she will have an excellent time working with EYCE.

In Christ,
Angie, Anna, Ben, Kuba, Lisa, Peter and Sini
EYCE Executive Committee
