The Ecumenical Youth Council in Europe is turning 50 in 2019!

We want to celebrate that at the General Meeting in October 2019 and also invite all our Alumni for the weekend.

There will be celebrations, old and new friends, ecumenical service, stories and pictures from 5 decades of EYCE, food and drinks, memories, and so much more…

Who is invited?

We openly invite everybody who was active in the EYCE some time between October 1969 and now.

Whether you were a participant in an EYCE event, volunteer at a workcamp, member of the Executive Committee, serving as a National Correspondent, as General Secretary or volunteer at the office- you are warmly welcome!

Date & venue

18–20 October 2019

Gästehaus Schwanenwerder, Inselstraße 20–22, 14129 Berlin, Germany (www.schwanenwerder.gfbm.de)

The venue is located on a small island in Berlin. The island can be reached over a bridge. The closest train stop is “Nikolassee”, which is a 40 min walk from the venue. Shuttles will be arranged for.

Accommodation

You are kindly invited to stay at Schwanenwerder overnight. Please note that accomodation is simple, with both shared bedrooms and shared bathrooms.

We understand if you wish for some more privacy. We are currently in the process of booking additional hotel rooms as close to the venue as possible. We will post additional information as soon as possible.

Please indicate in the registration whether you want to stay at Schwanenwerder and whether you have any special wishes regarding accommodation (friends you would like to share a room with, children coming with you etc.).

Costs

The registration fee for the Alumni Meeting will cover board and lodging at Schwanenwerder as well as the programme activities.

In order to allow as many Alumni as possible to participate, we request that you choose a contribution between 50 and 150 Euros (the approximate cost per person will be around 100 Euros). Please note that there is no funding available to reimburse travel expenses.

Travels

Please note that you will be expected to travel to train station “Nikolassee” in Berlin.

Nikolassee can be reached from the city centre by suburban railway (S-Bahn), which is frequently served during the day. Approximate travel times are: 30 minutes from Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Hbf, main train station); 45 minutes from Tegel airport (TXL); 70 minutes from Schönefeld airport (SXF).

From Nikolassee station, we will arrange shuttles to the venue. It is also possible to walk, which takes about 40 minutes (2.8km).

Those who arrive early on Friday are kindly invited to meet in the city centre of Berlin. Information will be provided to participants via email.

Support

All Alumni are kindly invited to get involved and we appreciate any kind of support. Reach out to alumni@eyce.org if you want to contribute your ideas.

In any event, please spread the word and invite at least one friend from your time in EYCE to join the Alumni meeting.

There will be a preparation meeting in mid-May 2019, so let us know ahead when you have great ideas for the programme or want to make a contribution.

We encourage you to register as early as possible, as this facilitates our planning a lot. The deadline for registrations is 15 August 2019!

You are kindly requested to confirm your attendance by paying the registration fee in advance to EYCE’s German member organisation, AEJ. Please note that the registration fee is not refundable should you decide not to participate or be unable to come.
