In this event, we will closely examine particularly painful incidents that occur within the church. Our aim is to identify the causes of such hurt and explore how we can take responsibility for changing the way we view hurt and discrimination in both human and church life.
The event welcomes 20 participants from diverse backgrounds. The event is scheduled for 3-9 June 2024, including travel days, and will take place in Malaga, Spain.

This June, against the backdrop of the sun-kissed beaches of Malaga, Spain, an event of paramount importance will take place: “Critical Reflection on Churches as Safer Spaces”.
Bringing together experts, trainers and participants from across Europe, this gathering will explore the essence of critical thinking – the cornerstone of freedom. It offers a rare opportunity to peel back the layers of societal norms and confront the truths that are often obscured by the facade of everyday life.
But fear not, for amidst the weighty discussions and debates, you’ll find yourself wrapped in warmth – not only from the balmy Spanish weather, with temperatures soaring above 32 degrees, but also from the welcoming embrace of your fellow participants.

Travel reimbursement policy:
● 90 % for participants from Bulgaria and Romania
● 70% for participants from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland and Russia
● 50% for participants from Belgium, Iceland, Italy, Spain and Portugal
● Up to 25% for participants from all other countries

The event will host up to 20 passionate participants who are committed to creating safer spaces in church and youth work. You should be open to an ecumenical experience, different perspectives and ready to take up the task of creating safer spaces. We welcome all forms of experience and work you are doing, whether at local, regional, national or international level.
You must be between 18 and 30 years old and a resident in a Council of Europe member state.
