For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder. And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:5

Dear friend,

As we are coming towards the end of the calendar year, we are entering the time of waiting. This is the time of growing excitement as the change is coming once more. Each year, the Child is born in the midst of the oppressed, in the midst of those who have fled violence and injustice. In all of the turmoil, the change Christ brings is always towards peace.

And now the Christmas fast calls us too towards this change. It calls for peace, it calls to unwind and keep in touch with your loved one’s, your neighbors. As we await the Prince of Peace, the world doesn’t stop around us. We, as the hands of the Prince, must keep on sharing the Gospel in our words and in deeds.

During Christmas fast we are invited to take away the unnecessary and make space for Christ. In the EYCE we look towards new beginnings in the form of international events and monthly Bible studies to bring us together. As we come from different Christian traditions, we encourage to embrace and share what is familiar, and joyously hear what is not yet familiar.

Another thing that brings excitement into our lives is the “re_start EYCE” project. In order to further enhance the capabilities of the ecumenical youth movement in Europe, we are seeking financial support from churches to become self-sufficient once more. We aim to enrich the amount and quality of activities offered and create more spaces for people from different backgrounds to meet.

EYCE thanks you for your support and fellowship through the year. We are excited to see what next year will bring, and look forward to meeting and working with you all!

Yours in Christ,

Aino, Steven, Harald, Saara and Aida
EYCE Executive Committee

Greetings from the planning team for 2024 International Activity

Five young adults have been selected as the team that prepares the International Activity “The shelter we seek - A critical reflection on church as safer space”. It will take place from 1 to 9 June 2024. Planning team includes Alan from Sweden, Ronja from Austria, Luka from Serbia, Luisa from Germany and Steven from the Executive Committee.

We are very much excited to have them as a part of our EYCE family. They will prepare the activity in detail, for example the content-related sessions, the evening leisure activities as well as everything that needs to be done to offer an amazing time for all the participants.

The team started to get to know each other at the end of November and is looking forward to building deeper connections and to be on this learning path joined by the participants in a few months, so we can have a lasting impact on our communities and member organisations.
