EYCE National Correspondents meet for their biannual meeting

The biannual meeting of the EYCE National Correspondents took place from 26th – 29th of October 2012 in Warsaw, Poland, and brought together the National Correspondents, the Executive Committee and the Office staff of EYCE. The meeting also offered a possibility to meet with representatives of the Youth Committee of Polish Ecumenical Council and to welcome a representative from the European Baptist Federation Youth and Children Workers.

During the National Correspondents meeting issues concerning the current work, as well as the future of EYCE were discussed, in particular focusing on EYCE’s Campaign to Promote Ecological Justice and the sustainability of the organisation and its member organisations. The criteria and methods of evaluating the sustainability of EYCE and its member organisations, as well as developing the tools for more sustainability were discussed and developed. In addition, the National Correspondents together with EYCE ExCo developed creative ideas on sustaining the organisation financially.

During the meeting the National Correspondents were updated about the work and achievements of the ExCo since the General Meeting last October, as well as got the opportunity to share the work of their organisations with one another. In addition, the National Correspondents had the possibility to welcome Mr. Jeff Carter from the European Baptist Federation Youth and Children Workers who presented the work of EBF and discussed the possibilities for further cooperation with the representatives of EYCE. In an informal meeting the EYCE National Correspondents also had the opportunity to meet and discuss with Julia Maria Koszewska from Religions for Peace, European Interfaith Youth Network.

After the meeting of National Correspondents, the EYCE Executive Committee met for their regular meeting. During the meeting the ExCo evaluated the activities of the council in 2012, discussed the current work of ECYE and continued planning for the year 2013. The agenda of the meeting included also discussions on the future cooperation with the Conference of European Churches (CEC), Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations (FEMYSO) and European Youth Forum (YFJ).

The ExCo took the opportunity to revise the EYCE agenda for 2013.

The foreseen events for the year 2013 are:

  • 14th – 21st April 2013, “Shape democracy! Youth leaders promoting participation and equality”, Romania.
  • CANCELLED: 2nd – 9th June 2013, “Learn.Engage.Lead. Ecumenical training to foster the participation of young people in international settings”
  • 18th – 25th August 2013, “Be the Generation of Peace! A seminar to enhance the participation and contribution of young people to peace processes”, Serbia.
  • 24th November – 1st December 2013, the closing study session of EYCE’s Campaign to Promote Ecological Justice.

Alongside other activities in 2013, EYCE’s 39th General Meeting will take place in October 2013.

The ExCo also took the opportunity to meet with the representatives of EYCE’s Polish Member Organisation – Youth Committee of Polish Ecumenical Council. Both organisations and their current work were presented, as well as the possibilities for a stronger cooperation and more involvement in EYCE in future was discussed.
