DID YOU KNOW?

  • In 2012, there were an estimated 1.7 million immigrants to the EU-27 from countries outside the EU-27. In addiction, 17. million people migrated within EU-27.
  • Over 40% of non-EU-born population in the EU is at risk of poverty.
  • In most countries, the risk of poverty is much higher among children with a migratory background.

With this training course, EYCE will seek to address these issues, as well as exploring the potential role young people can play. The training course will aim to facilitate understanding about links among migration, social exclusion and poverty, and empowering young participants to take an action in their context to alleviate social exclusion and poverty.

WHAT?

We invite you to this EYCE training course “Faces of Poverty” in Manchester…

  • to explore and analyse the links between migration, social exclusion and poverty;
  • to raise awareness on and provide the knowledge about the different types of migration;
  • to explore the Biblical and philosophical concepts of solidarity and active involvement in society; to enhance the understanding of the necessity to address social exclusion and its implications on different groups in society;
  • to equip the participants with the necessary skills and methods to address negative effects of poverty and social exclusion;
  • to meet lots of people from all over Europe and different denominations;
  • and so much more…

This event will be part of EYCE’s Campaign to Overcome Poverty “Break the Chains!”.

WHO?

Potential youth leaders and young people (age 18-30) actively engaged in their communities and coming from EYCE’s network.

WHEN?

Arrival on 6th September; departure on 13th September.
Exceptions from that can only be made if absolutely necessary for reasons of travelling schedule and approved in advance by EYCE!

WHERE?

To be announced.
Participants are expected to come to Manchester. There will be further travel instructions and assistance will be provided.

LANGUAGE

English.
It will be essential for all the participants to understand and speak English in order to take full advantage of the training course.

Deadline for receiving applications: 31st July midnight CET. Please send your application as soon as possible, especially when needing a visa for entering the UK.

COSTS

The participation fee will be 50 € (Euros) including accommodation, meals and the programme.
Please note that this amount can only be offered because of the subsidies received from the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe. Please note that a cancellation fee of 200 € (Euros) is expected from participants who cancel their participation less than 2 weeks prior to its beginning.

TRAVEL SUBSIDIES

The travel expenses can be reimbursed. There will be a 90% reimbursement of costs for every participant.

Please do not buy any tickets prior to the confirmation of your participation, agreement with EYCE office and visa acknowledgement (if applicable)!

Please note that a health insurance is NOT arranged by EYCE!
